Fourth of July Weekend is always a big summer kickoff at the Club, and this year’s gorgeous weather and fantastic programming made it one of the best Fourths ever! From a lobster bake to a BBQ, and from bluebird golf days to idyllic days by the lake, the weekend had something for everybody. And it truly looked like everyone was here!
Saturday’s lobster bake was an absolute treat. The Clubhouse was abuzz with members and their guests throughout the day, offering a warm reminder of the camaraderie and sense of community at the Club. Members enjoyed a delicious feast while the kids took over the Den, jumping around the bouncy house, obstacle course and tumbling about in oversized sumo suits. Face-painting on the mezzanine and balloon animals only added to the celebratory vibe of the afternoon. With full bellies and smiles all around, families enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show – timed perfectly to avoid the late rain.
On Sunday, many of us hiked up the mountain for a spectacular yoga class at the summit, reviving the spirit and restoring the soul. Members and guests filled the tee sheets at the golf course, taking advantage of perfect weather and reveling in the amazing job Head Pro Drew Anderson and Superintendent Robert Diaz have done whipping the course into shape. The sounds of summer fun echoed from the Brook Bound pool and grill, as slide-happy kids splashed and played.
And of course, the White House Sunday evening hosted Club members and community members alike for a superb barbecue on the lawn. With clear skies and brilliant views of the Valley everyone watched in awe as the Wilmington fireworks show lit up the mountainsides. The event drew more than 800 attendees and saw another flawless execution by Chef Chris Bonnivier and the F&B team.
It was simply a perfect way to ring in summer, and no doubt a harbinger of our upcoming Celebration Weekends this season.
