A Year Round Luxury Resort Destination
Having acquired The Hermitage Inn in 2007, owner Jim Barnes’ vision to connect the Inn with the surrounding mountain culminated with the 2011 acquisition of Haystack Club. With the completion of development and the realization of a single property, the name of the club was changed to The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain to reflect its grandeur and history.
The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain is a 1,400 acre private residential community nestled in Vermont’s Green Mountains. Enjoy a four-season mountain luxury retreat which offers one-of-a-kind private ski access, a golf community and the benefits of membership in an exclusive club.

We were all very appreciative of your gracious and most welcoming reception of us. The meals, amazingly pampered skiing and your taking the time to host us all were quite impressive. It is certainly impressive what you guys have accomplished in such a relatively short period of time, with the acquisitions and build outs to date.
The East has always been such a poor cousin to the western resorts, not only in the skiing terrain and snow quality about which not much can be done, but also by being such a ragamuffin, about which much could be done. The Eastern ski areas' ignoring of the ancillary and support aspects of the sport has been a major deterrent, with it's steamy base lodges and broad appeal to frat houses. You guys have changed that and finally raised the bar.
Certainly your clubhouse is as comfortable and nice, and offers all the comforts and ambiance as the Yellowstone Club and the Sun Valley ski lodges. Your efforts at recruiting and training good staff will pay off handsomely as well. I was most favorably impressed and will have only high praise for The Hermitage Club whenever it is brought up.

The Hermitage Club has changed everything we have ever come to expect as the skiing norm. No more lift lines. No more over crowded lodges. It’s a place where my children feel safe. As parents we feel comfortable letting our kids ski the mountain with their friends. It’s a sense of freedom so many kids miss today.

I've found my nirvana. The Hermitage Club has the best skiing on the east coast, period.

I am so incredibly grateful to be a part of this community. I have been looking forward to the upcoming season ever since in came to a close. The time I get to spend with my loving family is amazing. I have made amazing friends along the way as well. Before we joined the club, I didn't spend much time on the mountain. Ever since then, I have spent great amounts of time skiing, spending time with family and friends, and eating a LOT. I am so so so happy to be able to come up every weekend and spend my time in a place that I love. Thank you Hermitage for this remarkable experience! 🙂

Jim,
Great to meet you this past weekend. Your members speak so highly of the club and I can tell they think of it as a special place for their families. As a native Vermonter, I loved the idea, but was skeptical. However, after just a few hours, I was totally blown away by how organic yet carefully thought out the club was. It has a great energy and the aesthetics work extremely well with town, landscape, etc. Its a pretty cool thing you have created. Congratulations.

The time that we spend together as a family is the most important thing to us. It's a big investment to pack up every weekend and make the drive, so when we arrive we want it to be worth it. Jim and his team have created that place for us. It is all about the mountain, the snow, and enjoying our time together with family and friends. The memories we have made and will continue to make on Haystack mountain are ones we will carry with us forever.

The Hermitage Club is a memory factory, producing more and more unbelievable stories every time we go. For example, on New Years Eve while enjoying drinks in the Pub with my wife and another couple, Jim Barnes came by and asked the four if us if we wanted to join him for a ride in the heated ``Catillac`` snow cat to the summit cabin for appetizers and champagne. What a spectacular experience!
If I am dreaming, don't pinch me as I want the memories to continue.

My wife, and our two daughters spent the week skiing while I was home in Boston working. I received so many texts and pics of their amazing times and while I wished I were with them, there was a certain amount of pride in knowing they were at The Hermitage Club having a great time – and that my efforts have provided that opportunity.
I made it up just after lunch on Friday and skied the rest of the day with my 16-year-old, and we had a ``perfect time.`` What was perfect about it? I think any parent would agree: It wasn't the great skiing or the incredible views; it was the bonding we were able to do. The one-on-one conversations we had on the chair lifts were simply priceless. I used the time to learn so much. We talked about boys, school, even politics, if you can believe that.
There's no amount of money I wouldn't spend to guide my children through this world safely, and The Hermitage Club gives me that one-on-one time with my girls that allows me to help them learn about life and making good decisions.
Thank you, Hermitage Club, and thank you, Jim Barnes, for your vision. I look forward to the years and generations to follow.

We joined the Hermitage Club because we wanted a fun, safe, family-friendly ski mountain where we could teach our two young girls to ski, improve our telemark skiing, ski with friends, and continue the skiing family tradition that Matt and I both grew up with. The mountain has great terrain, the conditions are always fantastic, the mountain staff knows us by name, and we enjoy quiet, crowd-free skiing everyday. The Hermitage Club has exceeded all of our expectations. We are continually impressed by Jim and his team, and their ability to make the Hermitage Club vision come to life; we are so glad we are a part of it all.
